Hello fourth graders and welcome to our classroom, "Wellmann's Wonders" ~ a team of SUPERKIDS soaring into learning adventures! Each day, we will aim high, be captains of character, and challenge ourselves to succeed as we discover our superpowers of learning. I am Ms. Wellmann, your fearless facilitator, and my superpowers are learning and teaching. I will be guiding you in your quest to become remarkable readers, witty writers, and social stewards.
I hail from the tiny metropolis of Brenham, Texas, which is 90 miles east of here. Brenham is where I grew up with my younger brother, and graduated from Brenham High School and Blinn Junior College. I then left to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where I received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. I worked in marketing for over 10 years, starting my career in the Austin area, and then making my way back to Brenham. Though I learned a lot and was successful during those years in business, I realized something was missing in my career; I wasn't passionate about my job. Therefore, I left the business world, did some soul searching, and just by chance, landed in a classroom as a substitute teacher. Wow, what an amazing life-changing experience! I knew immediately that teaching was my true calling. So I became a student again, and earned my teaching certificate from Region IV in Houston, Texas. Teaching children has been my passion for 19 years! Brenham Independent School District is where I started teaching, and I have had the honor and privilege to teach second, third and fourth graders in all content areas. For the past 12 years, I have taught fourth grade reading, writing and social studies.
Not only am I so very lucky to have over 40 new students each year that I consider family, I am truly blessed to have two of the most amazing children a mom could hope for. My son, Chandler, is 25 years old and graduated with honors from King University in Bristol, Tennessee where he played men's volleyball. He recently moved to Nashville and is a graduate assistant at Austin Peah, helping coach the women's volleyball team. My daughter, Jordan, is 22 and graduated from Texas Christian University with honors. She completed her freshman year on the Dean's List and was recently accepted into the Neely School of Business Leadership Program. They continue to amaze me! As my children embark on new adventures in their life, I became an "empty nester," and decided to venture west. When I was given the opportunity to become part of the Reagan Ray family, I couldn't get here fast enough! I am thrilled to be part of the dynamic 4th grade team and a school who's vision is, "a collaborative community of learners where innovation and tradition collide to develop and personalize instruction to ensure learning for all." I am looking forward to meeting all of you and your families. Together, we will create a fun learning environment and experience a successful year of growth!
